Code Changes Have to Be Flexible and Cost-Effective
Code Changes Have to Be Flexible and Cost-Effective
Your state association continues its fight to fend off unnecessary and costly code changes. Had HBAM not interceded more than a year ago, costly changes would already be in place. Michigan has not modified its residential building codes since 2015. While HBAM supports updating Michigan’s codes, it continues to press for more cost-effective and flexible changes. Earlier this summer, HBAM submitted a letter to the Governor offering an alternative path to move the state forward in adopting a new building code. Although not yet scheduled when Michigan Builder went to print, HBAM will soon be meeting with advisors to the Governor to determine whether an agreement can be reached.
