Celebrating the Leaders that Help Shape Michigan’s Housing Future

The strength of our association comes from the advocates who help drive our mission every day. Whether they serve on committees, testify at the Capitol, engage with local units of government or give of their time and talents in other ways, they are essential to our success. This fall, HBAM is celebrating the individuals and organizations whose dedication to housing advocacy has had a positive impact by holding the first Leadership in Housing Advocacy Awards.

The award categories represent HBAM’s core areas of advocacy from workforce development to community impact. A member who has dedicated their time to growing and mentoring the next generation of builders will receive the Workforce Development Advocate award, while the Champion of Housing award will be presented to a legislator or public official who has helped advance positive housing policy. There is also a category for an Outstanding Local HBA, a Lifetime Achievement award and more.

The pool of nominees represents the diverse and dedicated individuals who are carrying out our mission. These leaders understand advocacy is essential to the success of our industry and communities, and have gone above and beyond to help make homeownership a reality for all Michiganders. By distributing these awards, we aim to highlight the champions for housing that support our industry.

Access to attainable housing impacts everything from economic development to overall quality of life, which is why advocacy is at the heart of everything we do as an HBA. It is thanks to the leaders in housing advocacy that we can have a strong voice at the Capitol, the dollars to fight against unlawful government overreach and the political and professional influence it takes to make positive changes for the industry.

The Leadership in Housing Advocacy Awards luncheon will take place on November 7, 2025, at Lansing Community College. Lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. We invite you to join us in celebrating the hard work of the nominees and award recipients! Register today at hbaofmichigan.com/awards.
