Michigan Makes Its Mark at IBS 2026
Nearly 75,000 industry professionals gathered for the final Builders’ Show in Orlando
Builders, remodelers and building professionals from all over the world look forward to the NAHB International Builders Show each year, and the 2026 show did not disappoint. This February, nearly 75,000 attendees — including 600 HBA members from Michigan — gathered in Orlando for the last time before the show permanently moves to Las Vegas beginning in 2027.
“This year’s attendees have been excited and engaged — a reflection of the overall industry’s desire to get out there and build,” said Geoff Cassidy, NAHB chief revenue officer.
The show floor spanned 679,000 net square feet and featured everything from AI technology and the latest product innovations to expert-led demos showing off best practices for building higher quality homes. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about building techniques, design, business management and more at the 130+ available education sessions.
In addition to the expansive show floor and education, attendees reconnected with peers and formed new relationships. Your state association, in collaboration with the Indiana Home Builders Association, hosted its annual Builders’ Show Networking Night, which took place at iFly Indoor Skydiving. Members from our region gathered while enjoying food, drinks and the indoor skydiving show. Several members and state leaders even got to experience the excitement of skydiving as they took flight in the wind tunnel.
Between the show floor and all the fun, HBA members were recognized for their contributions to the building industry. Joanne (Jo) Theunissen, a member of the HBA of Central Michigan, was recognized as an NAHB Senior Life Delegate, an honor only given to those who have demonstrated a long-time service to our members and association. NAHB Senior Life Delegates are crucial in helping guide the association’s policy and leadership and we are proud to recognize her for this accomplishment.

Our state’s YPs were also recognized on the national stage. Stephanie Snowden, a member of the Lakeshore HBA and HBA of Greater Grand Rapids, and 2026 Chair of the HBAM Young Professionals Committee was awarded the NAHB Young Professionals Award. Stephanie’s dedication to strengthening the next generation of industry leaders has made a lasting impact both at the local level and across Michigan. The other two region C finalists for the YP Award are also members from Michigan. Steve Williams and Tyler Strom, both members of the HBA of Southeastern Michigan, have been deeply involved in supporting Michigan’s young professionals network.
With strong representation and national recognition, Michigan members left Orlando energized and ready for what’s ahead. Next year’s IBS is returning to Las Vegas so be sure to mark your calendars for February 2-4, 2027.
